Jeans & Pants

Jean style trousers were first made in Genoa, Italy as they were created for the sailors of Genoese Navy who needed trousers that could be worn wet or dry. The sea would bleach the sailor's jeans white as they were washed in the sea's salt water. The first denim came from Nimes in France, hence the name of the fabric. When denim and jeans were eventually partnered together we finally had Denim (derived from de Nime) Jeans (derived from Genoa).

The Story Of Jeans

In the mid 1900s workers required a sturdy pant so they would wear denim jeans, or as they were know at the time, blue jeans. In the 50's rebellious heroes in American movies, portrayed by James Dean and Marlon Brando, wore denim jeans and teenagers and young adults wore jeans as a symbol of mild protest against conformity. The 1970s saw the creation of the flared bell bottom jeans and the decoration of denim with floral embroidery, studs, and patch detail. Jeans were the uniform of choice for everyone including political rebels, heavy metal fans, and hippies.

Modern Design Jeans

In the mid 80s fashion spawned a massive market for branded designer jeans and denim was slim fit, ripped, frayed and torn. The 90s saw denim take on many different colours, and for a short time the bell-bottomed jean returned. The passing of the millennium has seen hipsters, boot cut denim, baggy jeans, straight-cut jeans, and slim fit all come in to fashion for a time.

Beachwear Jeans & Pants

Shred Head stock ladies and men's denim jeans and trousers, or pants as they are known in America and Australia, in a variety of fits, styles, and materials by surf clothing brands such as Billabong, Quiksilver, Element, Rip Curl, Hurley, Roxy and Reef. The denim washes vary from dirty to stone washed, and the pants tend to be the traditional surf clothing colours of army green, black, or brown. Popular with surfers, we have combat trousers that are of a loose fit and made of durable cotton, with additional large pockets on the lower side of the legs that make them very practical. We also have baggy denim jeans for maximum manoeuvrability on a skateboard, straight leg jeans, loose fit jeans for comfort, jeans with a boot cut leg, cords, and carpenter pants and jeans.
