We now have surf shorts that are made of materials with extreme stretch properties, such as Hurley's Phantom boardshorts fabric, laser cut materials with electro-welded seams for shorts with high durability and maximum comfort, pioneered by Rip Curl's STL boardshorts. Perhaps one of the biggest changes has been the evolution of boardshorts as an essential item of fashionable; street wear, beachwear, sports clothing, or surf clothing.
The fashion influences upon boardshorts and baggies (surf shorts with an elasticated waist) mean that they are manufactured with stunning designs using print, stitch and patch detail.
