Rip Curl Girl

In the early days of surfing the water sport was regarded by many as predominantly a male sport. Times have changed drastically since then and now women are a core part of the surfing world. Thanks in part to the growing media coverage in extreme sports, but primarily thanks to the surf brands that have made ladies surfing and ladies surf clothing core to the beach lifestyle. In fact surf companies have been so successful that girls young and old have embraced the easy going surf lifestyle, and surf clothing such as ladies boardshorts, surf tees etc are now part of the fashionable street wear scene.

Rip Curl Girl have played a key role in women’s surfing over the years, and thanks to them surfing is enjoyed by many girls, young and old, across the globe. By funding ladies surfing competitions, sponsoring and nurturing a long list of Rip Curl female surfers, professional and otherwise, and promoting surfing as a fun and enjoyable water sport, Rip Curl has promoted the surf lifestyle in a positive manner. Rip Curl Girl is a core surf brand with ladies surfing beating at its heart.

Rip Curl was initially a men’s surf brand created by Doug ‘Claw’ Warbrick and Brian ‘Sing Ding’ Singer at Torquay Beach, Victoria in Australia. In 1969 Warbrick and Singer started by making wetsuits specifically designed for surfers. At first the Rip Curl wetsuits were simple in design, but through research and innovation the surfer’s wetsuit quickly evolved to become a massive hit across the world.

As surfing grew in popularity Rip Curl began to produce Rip Curl T-Shirts, boardshorts, hoodies, walk shorts, shirts and various items of surf wear and accessories. As ladies identified with the live to enjoy life surf lifestyle philosophy the Australian surf brand began to produce a range of ladies surf clothing and Rip Curl Girl was born.

Rip Curl Girl produces a great range of women’s technical surf and snow sport clothing, and high quality surf lifestyle clothing, from hoodies, and surf t-shirts, to ladies wetsuits and boardshorts.
