Billabong Girl

Surfing was predominately a male sport until the late 1990’s when extreme sports turned in vogue. With huge amounts of media coverage surfing and the surfer’s way of life took off across the world. Since then girls have embraced the surf lifestyle, and surf clothing such as boardshorts and surf tees are seen as fashionable street wear and cool beach wear. A major force in the growth of the female surfing sport has been the Australian surf brand Billabong.

Girls Surfing Lifestyle

As surfing developed into a professional water sport during the 1970s and 1980s, Billabong became an integral part of the surfer lifestyle. Billabong’s pro surfers and surf clothing appeared in surfer magazines, and Billabong sponsored surfing events had growing media coverage.

By the late 1990s Billabong began to design a range of ladies surf clothing, producing feminine-shaped surf gear with floral prints, ladies boardshorts, and girl’s trousers from hot pants and Capri pants to loose and baggy pants. The Billabong Girl surf brand launched in 1999 to great effect, and since then the ladies Billabong surf clothing range has gone from strength to strength.

Beach Fashion Stocked

Ladies surf clothing is now an extremely popular style of street wear and beach clothing. Billabong Girl with its great range of; boardshorts, hoodies, skirts, and surf t-shirts, proudly sits at the forefront of ladies surf fashion.
